Can you believe it’s been seven years since 9/11? It almost feels like just yesterday we were watching pictures of the tragedy stream across the television screen. It’s almost as if the dust-cloud of the World Trade Center never quite settled, and the Pentagon is still burning. Without a doubt it is a day that weighs heavy on the hearts of all Americans.
So then why is it that every year fewer and fewer people stop to remember what happened? I doubt it is because people are too busy, or simply apathetic. It is a day of such significance; it is simply impossible to go without notice. But why is it that September 11 is now characterized by a passive indifference?
Let’s not let another September 11th go by without taking a moment to stop and remember what happened. Let’s all pull out our American flags, light a candle, or just do whatever we can to honor the memory of the day. Let’s all stop and think about those who are no longer with us. But whatever we do, let’s not forget this day.
